Create a table view

This quick start guide will help you create a table view.

A View is a helpful feature for limiting access to data for specific user roles. Views contain subsets of table columns so team members only see what they need.

Table views use a custom database role as a way to associate users with a view.

Create a custom role

To create a custom role:

  1. Click ‘Teams’ on the left panel to manage your team settings.
  2. Click ‘Custom Roles’, find and click the desired database in the list.
  3. Click ‘Add Role’, give the new role a name and choose a role type based on a default role.
  4. In the Permissions column there is a checkbox ‘Disable Delete’. Check the box if this role is not allowed to delete data.
  5. In the far right column, click the check mark to save or ‘x’ button to discard.

Create a view

To create a view follow these steps.

  1. Click ‘Databases’ on the left panel to view your list of database.
  2. Click the name of the database to view the tables.
  3. Click the table name for which to create a view.
  4. Click ‘Edit Table’ to open the table in edit mode.
  5. In the right panel click ‘Create a View’.
  6. On the Manage Views screen click the new View button.
  7. Enter a name for the view.
  8. Choose the role created in the prior steps to assign to this view.
  9. In the Columns list, drag and drop to center of screen the columns for this view.
  10. If applicable, apply any filters available for the column. Please note this feature is automatically enabled depending on the column type.
  11. When done adding columns, click ‘Save’.
  12. Click ‘Close’ to go back to the view list.
  13. Click ‘Close’ to go back to the Edit Table screen to see the new view in the Views panel.

Congratulations, the table view is ready. Team members assigned to that role will only see the columns specified in the table view.
